About the Provider
Dr. Sambandam is a board-certified general surgeon providing services to the residents of the north Fort Worth area. While he practices the full breadth of general surgery, he has developed niches in minimally invasive colostomy reversal, hernia care, gallbladder pathology, hidradenitis and pilonidal disease.
After completing high school at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science on the campus of the University of North Texas, Dr. Sambandam obtained a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin. He then spent seven years as a software developer before going back to school to get an additional bachelor's degree in pure mathematics while he completed prerequisite undergraduate courses for medical school.
Dr. Sambandam was a recipient of the Southwestern Medical Foundation Scholarship from 2004 to 2007, and in 2008, he graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School with a medical degree. He spent the next five years completing his general surgery residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital/ University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Since finishing his residency in 2013, Dr. Sambandam has been delivering expert surgical care to the residents of the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Each month, he spends one week as a trauma and acute care surgeon at the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital of Fort Worth, a large, busy Level 1 trauma center, providing care to the most critically ill patients while training medical students and surgery residents. His experience and surgical proficiency are widely recognized, particularly his specialized use of robot-assisted surgical systems to offer exceptional patient outcomes.
